Catch Reports reports and news Dec 2017 to March 2018.
The
end of another busy year with many holidays and day trips for 2017 and many PBS broken, and having our repeat clients back
and also making new friends.
Lets hope it was a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for everyone!!?
January was busy for us as usual with the day trips and our clients having some beautiful carp captures of
all types and sizes with fish to 45lb.
Steve Briggs
and partner Joan joined us again for another weeks fishing in the sunshine, this time trying a different lake on the island, which
has some rather large residents, but they didnt want to come out and play!! So we returned to Chira to finish the week off
and have some carp on the bank.
February upon us and an extremely busy month,we had horrendous storms, rain, extreme high
winds which you couldn't even stand up in,too difficult to cast, impossible to get in a boat and dangerous driving conditions,so
we had to cancel 2 weeks of day trips for their own safety, the weather was like this all over the Canary Islands.
We did have our holiday clients which we couldn't cancel and they braved and witnessed everything,we
don't know how,but they had some great fishing and were rewarded with plenty of carp to mid 30s.
We then had a change of weather, lots of sunshine a full week of day trips ,all going strong and you in the
UK had the beast from the East with bad snow and We had the rain from the South which we had waited 7 years for and it absolutely
poured and added 12 metres of water into Lake Chira, filling it up and it is now full!
So,
now have 2 great camping areas,a separate day trip area and another area towards the back bay by our 2 apartment complexes..Happy
days!
We are now in March/April with another busy time ahead
with holidays.
Day trip spaces available next week.
We do have availability for some weeks for fishing holidays
throughout 2018 or short breaks, whatever you would like to do.
Special offer for a min of 4 anglers for 1 week on our
Fly/Survive package we are offering a Free apartment for the duration..
Until the next time
Dave and Ali and the
team.
CATCH REPORT NOVEMBER 2017
Well
we have now reached the end of October, and we can only apologize for not updating our catch reports on the website since
March! But if you follow FACEBOOK you will see we have updated our catch reports every week throughout the year!
Nevertheless since April through the year up until now, October, we have had another amazing year of meeting our
old and new clients, and we have had the most amount of carp captures in 2017 on our day trips than any other year!
The wild canary carp have given our clients from all over the world some amazing experiences with scaley mirrors
and common carp of all sizes and colours to 41lb, with everyone having fun in the sun and some clients having their PB carp!
We have been using the Tangerine Dream and Coconut cream and our squid octopus krill 20mm boilies; and our "must
have" particle of mixed bird food, nuts, seeds etc; and this combination has been extremely rewarding.
Our clients
have been given the choice of the Nash scopes or KNX rods on the day trips, along with all the relevant Nash Tackle and equipment,
providing a top quality set up with our clients experiencing one of the best days of their holiday.
Not forgetting our
holiday clients throughout the year, with some having 24hrs on the bank; cooking and in a bivvy for the duration, and taking
showers and wc. Plus charging of any equipment at our house and some staying in our apartments; with a choice of 2 complexes
and a rural house with heated pool, we have something for everyone.
Steve
Briggs and Joan spent a week with us in June. It was a great week filled with fun, laughter and plenty of carp! Some days
with 25 carp on the bank! Take a look at the video Steve made on our site, Steve Briggs pages or the Nash site. We all had
a great time and we are now looking forward to his 3rd trip in January 2018 fishing our other lake!
At the end of October another guest Rob Maylin and his wife and son were here with us for the week of fishing and
having some fun. Look out for the article which will be running over Christmas and into the new year!
Well tight lines
for now, until the next time.
Dave and Ali.
CATCH
REPORT for JANUARY to MARCH 2017
We started the New Year with new tackle &
bait supplied by our sponsor NASH TACKLE. This included Nash Bolies, KNX rods, new Ground Hog Ovals with surrounds (plus Ground
Hog mosquito nets if required). It has been busy through Jan & Feb with the holidays and day trips.
The colder weather did make fishing more difficult, especially with some rain and frosts, followed by temperatures
sky-rocketing back up to 44C! With a warm wind blowing to Gran Canaria from the continent of Africa the fish began to spawn
like crazy for the first time, but there were still a fair few good fish caught.
The
Carping For Heroes left us following a week of action with carp to 25lb. Our repeat clients Joe and three friends had a great
week with plenty of carp to 28lb. Our Romanian clients caught 27 carp in a week!
We
all are looking forward to seeing Steve Briggs when he arrives in June along with our Holiday Winner for a week-long fishing
session. It's sure to be exciting!
There are plenty of other things to come
during 2017! The big news is our NEW VENUE with larger fish coming on board. We have obtained rights to fish private land
at a stunning wild lake that holds some rather large carp, including plenty of uncaught monsters. The 'Mystery' factor
is alive and kicking! A 40lb+ beautiful carp was caught by our fist ever client at the new venue!
We are now in late March and are looking forward to plenty more exciting carp captures and satisfied holiday
anglers throughout the rest of the year. Happy 2017 from Dave & Ali and the team on Gran Canaria.
CATCH UPDATE APRIL 2016 to December 2016
A great few months of carp captures including six 40lb+ carp caught to our day trip clients! In fact there
were plenty of carp caught by all on the day trips, short breaks, and week holidays. We had one of the busiest years ever,
with two trips per day throughout August and September! It was wonderful to meet repeat and new clients who all had a great
time. Truly happy holiday people!
During October Alex and Carl from Team Nash
UK visited us at Carp Gran Canaria for a splendid week of fishing and filming. They had a great time and produced a superb
DVD. If you haven't already seen it, please take a look at out Video Page on this website or on Youtube.
By November we had started to quieten down towards the Christmas build-up. We took a short break but returned
for 15th December when the Day-Trip rush began again, and continued right through into 2017!
If you check our Facebook Page and look through our Galleries you will view the Christmas carp photos! Merry
Christmas & Happy New Year from Dave & Ali and the team at Carp Gran Canaria!
CATCH REPORT
UPDATE Autumn 2015 to Spring 2016!
2015 Remaining months were fantastic and busy
as always. October and November with the 2 guided Frank Warwick and Ardy Veltkamp and Henrick from Northern Baits week
long trips were both very different.October was a little difficult at the beginning of the week with a hot 40 degrees plus
calimate (sand storms and extreme heat from the SAHARA) so the fish switched off and then it all changed and everybody had
carp to upper 30s.
The November trip again extreme weather hot, cold and rain,so difficult again, but it all came good
in the end and everybody had fish to mid 30s.
December 2015, JAN 2016 and FEB 2016 we had very changeable weather,
hot daytime and temperatures of a night at 2 degrees! Even some snow in February...yes we said snow!
March 2016
was one of the best months we have had in a long time with carp to 43lb and a 41 and 40 also on the bank, many 30s, upper
20s and extremely busy with day trip clients and holidays. April again has started with great carp captures with a 38lb to
our Danish client on a day trip and was his first time fishing! The Disney on Ice champion skaters on their worldwide tour,
came on a day trip all 9 of them and had a great day with many carp, and the biggest was to Minnie Mouse at 35lb and beautiful
Chira Common carp!
We cannot stress enough that if you are booking a day trip or holiday you do need a fishing license and we need 48hrs notice
to get these.
We
do have the only legal 24hrs camping land on the lake and we provide all our clients with a camping and fishing license, so
you have peace of mind when you are fishing on the bank with us.
Our competition to win the 14th Anniversary competition to fish with Steve Briggs in Gran Canaria during
June 2017 was won by Tim Whitely! Well done Tim from Dave & Ali!
Special guests will be on the island October this year, so watch this space
for further information.
All our day trips are 75 euros per angler and cash is payable on the day! Again we are heath and safety checked, we hold
full public liability insurance, and we are legal to carry passengers and we are also a licensed travel agent, so we can work
legally with the tourist industry.
Until the next time..
Dave and Ali
CATCH UPDATES to JULY
2015
All we have to say is OMG another
fantastic few months with a great end to 2014 and through 2015!
Just take a look at our official FACEBOOK Page
at https://www.facebook.com/CarpGranCanaria for all daily updates, news and photos and it speaks for itself!
We have had some great clients,
amazing carp captures to 40lb+, plenty of 30s, mid 30s and many 20s... and they just keep on coming! Every carp is a different
colour, weight, type... scaly carp, mirror and common carp.
We have fished Lake Chira for over 25 years now
and the carp are still as spectacular as they were when we first stated fishing the Canaries.
We had a great trip
back in January with Frank Warwick and Ardy Veltkamp on a weeks trip. It was a little cooler and windy conditions, but
the photos speak for themselves, with Ardy experiencing the wild Canary carp!
We made a visit to the UK in May
for a very special persons 60th Birthday... the legendary Mr Kevin Nash, and we had a ball! It was a fantastic day/night
and we have not stopped since our return.
Our
day trips are still a 7 hour great experience if you are here on holiday and fancy a day out in the mountains, and catching
one of those beautiful Canary carp; or you may fancy a short break or holiday. If so, then look no further... we can accommodate
what ever you are looking for, weekend trip, Special Birthday celebration, Jolly up, stag party, couples, families, Groups
or even if you are coming over on your own!
We have some great offers and our prices will stay the same for 2016! So please if you have not
booked a holiday or fishing holiday 2015 we do have some spaces available. Or if you are looking at holidays for 2016, then
look no further; book with us with peace of mind at the original and premier carp fishing company with fishing day and night!
Thank you to all our old and new clients for making the last few months a good one ...Dave and Ali.
News - Frank Warwick trips!
Some
interesting news for 2015: We would like to welcome Ardy Velcamp from Holland and Frank Warwick from UK to
Gran Canaria who had a few days fishing on Lake Chira Gran Canaria and managed a few carp between them, Ardy was extremely
happy as he had never caught such beautiful wild carp! Later this year we will be running guided fishing trips from both
countries.
Update..
Please note: Our guided Frank Warwick and Ardy Veltkamp trips for October and November 2015 are
now fully booked. We will be hopefully adding some more for 2016, so please wait for the announcement coming soon.
CATCH REPORT and Latest Update. March to October
2014!
Carpy Updates for the last 5 months at Gran Canaria.
Only one word... Fantastic!
As most of you who follow us
through Facebook and Twitter are aware, the fishing has been amazing as always with loads of fish being caught; even
in 90 degrees temperature in July and August, with many 20lb+, 30lb+ and upper 30s, all stunning and truly wild Canary
Carp. The fish fell to the Nash baits and using the Nash Tackle. All in all it was a good few months... if not better! Also
our Holiday clients have been enjoying the action with some of the anglers having up to 120 carp in a week. What more can
you ask for?!
Hopefully we will get some rain this winter because it
has not rained for over 4 years and the lake has shrunk from 170 acres when full to smaller 80 acres, but it
is still plenty of water for good for fishing all year round. We are also still waiting on the news of the Hydrodam and
when it is to be completed. This will keep the lake full at all times and we will then be able to fish from our patios once
again.
We also have launched some food packages after our group of
11 came in Feb 2014; so for 4 or more persons we now can offer all inclusive food packages, alongside the self-catering in
the apartments (fully fitted ovens and bbq area), and we also have acquired a lakeside 6 person villa with heated pool for
rental for families, couples, or who ever would like to use them. If you prefer you can have your
meals in a local restaurant with the famous Lolitta and try some of the local cuisine including her Paella!
Note that we are NOT offering trips to Gomera at this moment. Please contact us for any further details
or information.
Please do not forget that you can experience all our
venues by taking a look at the Globetrotter World DVD series produced by Tony Davies-Patrick, covering his fishing and
adventures around Gran Canaria with David.
We have some
very special offers and promotions for Gran Canaria for groups of anglers... please contact
us for details or more information.
January
- March 2014.
Since the new year the fishing once again has been extremely good, and
sometimes spectacular! January and February was pretty amazing, catching plenty of fish on our day trips, sometimes 6 to 7
fish a day to mid 30's. Also our holiday clients who were either bivvied up on the bank or staying in one of our
lakeside apartments had superb catches with some beautiful wild Canary carp.
Our
first all inclusive group arrived Feb 10th with 11 fisherman and 1 watching for the week. They all stayed on the bank with
their NASH 2 rod set up, oval plus, bed chairs and all relevant equipment, plus we provied a hot breakfast, lunch and evening
meal included for the week, cooked by Alison and Karen.
It was a busy but very rewarding time, with 50 carp to
33lb. On their 5th day sadly the weather changed and they had to stop fishing due to snow, high 130km winds, rain and
sleet and freezing weather conditions! Yes we did say snow... definitely not normal for Gran Canaria even during winter! But
it was a great week had by all and hopefully we will be seeing them all again next year.
Cristian
Kamm from Germany and friend had over 60 carp in the week and were totally blown away. They even decided to stay another
4 days! They said it was one of the best winter sessions they had ever experienced with the beautiful carp and spectacular
scenery.
All our long weekenders and session anglers have had great carp captures with the
CARPGRANCANARIA.COM TEAM.
Our new venue La Gomera:
This
lake is an experience in itself... an amazing part of the world with some huge carp! Ian has now had the Canary Island
record mirror at 64lb along with a 59lb to his son Jon, plus a couple of 40s and a 51!
This lake is extremely difficult
and there are some very large uncaught carp swimming around in its depths. I have know doubt that any angler who likes
a challenge on a completely different water will catch something very big indeed, on a lake that has never had any pressure
or even seen a bait!
So we are now in March 2014 and so far so good; again we have caught up with
friends old and new, lots of repeat clients and the fishing is fantastic, plus the weather is in the 80s again!
So
if you haven't booked your holiday for this year or even a fishing break, maybe with the fellas or girlfriends, or perhaps
you are visiting Gran Canaria with the family, please dont forget that you can join us on one of our day/night excursions
and come and experience one of the best days of your holiday!
Tightlines
Dave
and Ali...
September to
November 2013.
The end of August, through a mad busy month of September and October....
what can we say! We had temperatures of 40 degrees and still the carp kept on coming out, so everybody on our excursions
or fishing holiday had an amazing experience.
We have also a great new venue on the island which caters for fly/survive
fisherman/woman which we have been providing for a couple of years now and had carp to 40lb, so look out for more info
on that one. Plus another Canary venue coming up in Jan 2014 for the advanced angler and holidays only, so watch this space!
Until the next time
Dave and Ali Beecham.
June to August 2013.
As usual June and July were fantastic fishing with plenty of fish - 20s and 30s to all our day trip clients.
Augusts arrived and the fishing went ballistic, fishing with the classic Nash Scopex boilie, which was a change from the tigernuts.
The last 2 weeks of August our clients had over 76 carp!
To give you an example of just a few of our many clients...
Justine had 31 fish in 4 days, Jamie and son had 16 fish in 3 days. John who writes for Essox Pike magazine fancied a change
and caught 21 carp in 3 days. All the fish were to mid 30s. Our repeat client Brian came back to try and have his PB carp
and managed 3 X 30s at 32lb ,33lb and35lb along with 3 X 20s...all in 7hrs on our day trips!
There are
so many different carp being caught and we have had thousands of over the years. After all my years of fishing this
lake and running the business it still amazes me and everyone else. We have some of the most beautiful, wild and hard fighting
carp in Europe. They vary in sizes to sizes to 50lb and we cater for all levels of angler. We can guide you or you
can be left to your own devices, its up to you.
We offer day trips, night trips, 24hrs, bivvy or with a lakeside
apartment with a choice of fishing areas.
Until the next time
Dave and Ali Beecham
January to May 2013.
2012 ended on a high with a fantastic year of day and night trips, short breaks and many holidays.
Lots of old and new friends and plenty of Canary carp captures.
January
started with Jamie Clossick (Nash consultant) and his 2 friends having a short break on the lakeside with very changeable
weather conditions; who had a great few days and managed several carp to the mid 30s. Our holiday clients from Germany Florian
and friend had an amazing weeks fishing again, with all tackle and relevant cooking equipment provided for fishing from the
lakeside, and they had over 30 carp to 35lb,many uppers 20s and 30s - great winter fishing.
Our 4 Italians arrived for a week session for a bivvy holiday with different weather all week, one day cloudy one
day 80 degrees, but that didn't put the carp off feeding, another great week of the most beautiful carp that Lake Chira
has ever seen with 42 carp to 37lb.
The island was then hit by torrential
rain and high winds as a tornedo was upon us and this added 4 metres of water into the lake in 3 days, then the fishing
really switched on! Our 4 guys from Belgium arrived for 6 nights fishing and had one of the best catches we have had in 10
years, with 104 runs and 96 carp on the bank, with the biggest to 44lb and a shed load of 30s and 20s, along with a 35lb orange
and yellow koi. It was a trip of a lifetime and an amazing week had by all.
Our repeat German clients Petra and Rainor arrived staying at the lakeside apartments. their 2nd session in 6 months
with 36 fish in total to 49lb, along with a 43lb, many 30s and 20s, super carp fishing now in 30 degrees while the rest of
Europe was freezing!
Nick G returned for his 2nd guided trip, again on the
bank with many carp to 35lb and Sean had a 3 night session with his partner staying at the lakeside apartments with many fish
to 36lb.
Our repeat clients we call the "Suttons" came back
for their visit and again had a hectic trip catching many 20s and 30s with fish to 35lb.
Amongst the holidays we still had our day trip clients catching daily with 20s and 30s and many PBs being
broken,Happy Days!
Duane and girlfriend had a 4 night short break and
have recently left the island after having 40 carp and had one of the best fishing trips they had ever experienced and
Matt and Laura (who booked a surprise holiday) had an amazing week, something he had dreamed about with 39 carp captures with
fish to 30lb of those amazing, beautiful, and wild canary carp. They are already booking their 2nd visit for later
on this year.
If you havent already booked your holiday or even a fishing
holiday for this year, think about Gran Canaria as a new venue, you can join us on a day or night excursion, if you are coming
to the island with the family/girlfriend or maye a weeks fishing with the lads!
Even if its for 2014 and you are looking at a winter venue, look no further! It's 80 degrees all year round a
great winter carp venue, while the rest of Europe is cold. Gran Canaria is known as a mini continent, a beautiful volcanic
island in the middle of the Atlantic with carp to 50lb, and is great for all levels of angler. You can bivvy on the bank or
stay in one of the lakeside apartments, we are 1hrs drive from the coast and 1hr 30 mins from the airport, we do recommend
car rental if you are coming for a fishing holiday, or we can offer transfers if required, the choice is yours. Our apartments
have sun terraces with sun beds and bbq areas for the girlfriends, wives, or partners. So they can chill out or sunbathe and
relax, something for everyone.
(take a look at our DVD page on the website
for more info)
We are now at the end of May and its
time to breathe and relax for a couple of weeks and some fishing time for Dave before the busy Juny/July/August period. Watch
this space as our new canary venue launch will be very soon. Also if you are flying with Thomas cook over Europe this summer
please take a look at our 6 page article/review in their inflight magazine.
So from the team at CarpGranCanaria -TightLines and heres to a great summer 2013.

JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST 2012 CATCH REPORT
& LATEST NEWS:
With the summer definitely upon us, and the weather very changeable, from hot sunsine
in the 80's to extremely hot in the 100's...it has been a bit crazy! There have been Calimas from the African continent,
which is about 80 miles away, bringing with it hot and sticky ari filled with air-borne sand. This combined with tropical
storms has made fishing quite difficult...but that hasn't prevented Carp Canaria from getting in amongst the action and
catching plenty of fish for our clients!
Nearly all of our clients enjoyed action with a great selection of fish captures ranging from upper 20's, 30's
up to 36lb. Children and their fathers also joined us for day trips filled with catching fish and having fun!
Joe Jagger UK NASH Consultant was here in July and managed a short 5-hr session
during an extremely hot day when temperatures reached 46 degrees, yet still caught a couple of 20lb+ carp! It was a great
day combined with great company and we look forward to seeing Joe back again with us soon.
It
was also great to see the Nash TV video doing well, and the Nash Tackle doing the business. All of our clients receive a Nash
set-up during our Day Trips and holidays. Kevin Nash has recently left us following a 2-week holiday on the island, during
which we joined up for plenty of day/night trips out...!
The holiday bookings are coming in thick & fast for Sept/Oct/Nov... so please don't leave it too late, and
contact us for a booking if you haven't already.
Our holiday client Nick Goodman
from Northampton had a great 5-nights on a guided trip with Steve our guide, and managed 33 runs and landed 29 fish to 36lb.
Well done! See you again next year!
What
more can we say but that it has been a great summer so far. Here's to another busy 3-moths ahead!
Cheers from Dave & Ali.
MAY 2012 NEWS & CATCH REPORT:
Since the weather change - from
a cold Feb to its present warmer upper 80s - we have had an amazing amount of carp captures. From our day trips to 24hrs on
the bank and our fishing holiday clients (with many breaking their Personal Bests whilst fishing Lake Chira with Dave and
the team at CarpGranCanaria).
We have had
many visitors from all over Europe including, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Finland, UK, and Sweden. Alex from Austria Sludge
Fishing came with his father for a short break, and had a great catch of beautiful carp to 39lb. Please take a look at his DVD
of his trip with us (online video now can be watched on the CarpGranCanaria TV Page of this website).
Our Danish clients and Tony from the UK had a 24hr trip with us and they had between them
over 16 fish, with 9 upper 30s. They liked it so much that they are all returning for a weeks holiday in September!
Steve from the UK had a couple of nights with many fish and over
5 upper 30s! Plenty of upper 20s and 30s and a few just over 40lb; all different fish from last year, and our clients left
with very happy faces!
We have located some different fishing areas around the lake now, with camping areas including
toilet and shower facilities; so if you fancy a bivvy on the lakeside then that's not a problem, or if you prefer a little
more luxury you can stay in one of our apartments, which can sleep from 1 to 5 persons, and these are self-catering.
Nash
have launched Nash TV with Alan Blair part 1 Gran Canaria, covering a recent visit to the island with Alan and his girlfriend
Chloe, and their days/nights fishing where Alan had his PB for Europe at 44lb!
We are pleased to announce we are working
with Cosmos Holidays for 2012 on our day trips. We will also be launching very soon our new venue, which is carp fishing from
the island of Tenerife, but not actually on Tenerife! So watch this space for updated information!
A big thank you to
Jonny and Steve for all your help over the last few months, and here's to a great busy summer on the Canary Islands.
We still have availability for fishing holidays through 2012, with some great prices, so if you haven’t already booked
your holiday, or even a fishing holiday, then give Gran Canaria a try this year... you will not be disappointed!
Until
the next time Dave and Ali.
